Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Workplan developed and cleared by UNODC
  • Develop a comprehensive workplan outlining key activities, timelines, and deliverables in alignment with UNODC project objectives, and submit it for review and clearance by UNODC.
  • Assessment of the College’s Capacity for Internal and External Communication Conducted
  • Conduct a context analysis
  • Assess the College’s internal and external communication capacity, identifying strengths, gaps, and opportunities for improvement in information flow, stakeholder engagement, and the use of communication tools and platforms.
  • Detailed recommendations on communication systems and related capacity requirements delivered and validated
  • Produce a report that provides the overall analysis of (a) the operational contexts; (b) current practices and capacities; (c) gaps and needs; (d) recommendations.
  • Support stakeholder engagement meeting(s) to validate the needs assessment report.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced University degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field is required.
  • A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • A minimum of 7 years of professional work experience in strategic communications, social media engagement, and crisis communications, print and broadcast media, or interactive digital media is required
  • Experience in development of National / institutional level communications strategies, policies and plans is desirable.
  • Proven experience in training communications officers across government institutions is required.
  • Experience in providing expert communications advice to public and security sectors is desirable.
Languages:
  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
  • For this position, fluency in English, with excellent drafting and communication skills, is required.
  • Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage
